Spending more time at the top of this building and visualising everyone die, I am increasingly wondering if I should make more art.
Purely from an effectiveness standpoint, I think artwork that reaches 100M people and doompills 20M people for example, is as effective as say, a leak that shifts 20M votes.
It is just that art is an extremely competed over field. This includes AI visual art or AI music or similar. I am outlier high in terms of imagination so maybe I can beat them, but it is not straightforward.
I have a much better shot at making art that reaches the few thousand people working full-time on ASI risk. If I can use artwork to get a lot of them to change their career paths to stuff I want (like mass protests), that could end up working.
Ugh this is a hard call to make. I still think leaking info is higher EV, but this seems like a hard call to make, without actually investing multiple more years of my life doing each of these.
As Naval puts it, software is higher EV than media.
What to visualise
I visualised individual deaths via heart attack or similar, and a nuclear explosion, and a software app affecting lots of people differently, and other stuff.
Watching a nuclear explosion in person must be so much more intense than watching it on a video screen. I can't wait until we have photorealistic cameras and screens, with depth perception and stuff. The subtle eye movements that I make that let me do depth perception, make this window so much more realistic as compared to if it was a screen displaying the same thing.
I should attach a photo tbh, wait.
