Disclaimer post - Why do I write about my sex life online?

Quick Note
NSFW - sex
Main
I think the primary reason is just out of principle. I think there is significant probability that we are heading towards a world with zero privacy for everyone in the next 5-30 years. Multiple offence-defence balances seem to be shifting towards information coming out publicly not being kept secret. I am experimenting with this in my own life, to test the boundaries of how far I can go with this. Practice, not theory, is what matters ultimately.
By default, I lightly anonymise identities of other people around me when talking about it publicly, for example, identities of people I've had sex with. This means a couple minutes of google search won't reveal who I am talking about. However, it is possible that a dedicated attacker building custom tools could reveal this, and ofcourse a government investigation spending multiple years of labour could definitely reveal this. If you notice I have written something about you anonymised, but want it even more anonymised, then let me know, I will most likely comply.
By default, I am not interested in discussing my sex life with people I don't know well. Just because I have written about it here doesn't mean I am interested in discussing it with strangers. If we know each other well, then depending on circumstances, you are free to discuss it with me.
Longer answer
I don't actually think my sex life is that interesting to be honest, as of 2026-04. I don't think it's likely you'll learn some deep secret about human sexuality from it.
I don't think being exhibitionist is a major driver for why I am doing this. It could be a minor driver though, although that discussion is nuanced and I won't have it in this post.
It is IMO likely that if lots of people's sex life was public, then you could identify trends and these will be quite valuable to society. In which case, I will just be yet another datapoint in this dataset.
I do think that the stakes of discussing the topic of sex are civilisation-scale. Differences of thought and action around sex/family/parenting seem one of the fundamental ideological dividers between people of different socioeconomic classes, of different religions and different nationalities. Whether a US-China technological arms race causes human extinction or whether we successfully build avert this by building a world government, may very well end up hinging on questions like whether US and Chinese citizens could atleast somewhat agree with each on the topic of sex/family/parenting.
